"Your Are Just One Person." Or Are You???

This title may not make much sense but by the time I’m done you may understand it better.

I have been thinking about what in the world I could write about today in relation to politics especially since I barely follow politics. I have started listening to the debate last night, but didn’t get time to finish it. However, I do hope to finish watching it before the week is out. That may or may not happen for me.

So, instead of talking about who I’m supporting or who I’m against….I thought I would instead talk about the impact ONE little ole’ person can have on many other people’s lives.

As my wonderful loyal readers already know I home school my two boys (K and 3rd grade), and I also do my utter best to keep Zeva (my now 9 month old) happy. Plus, of course, I maintain keeping our house in order. Now that may not seem like I’m moving mountains or making a huge difference in the BIG Huge world, but I have learned how much of a difference I (Yes, ME…and ONLY ME) can make.

Do you want to know how I learned the value of me??? I became a manager of a place that is open 365 24/7, and I was the only working manager in charge of the place 6 days on and 2 days off. I was in charge of roughly 20-30 employees at any given time.  So, my decisions impacted how they survived and took care of their families. My decisions also directly affected the business outcome every month as well. My employees came to rely on me so much that even on my days off they called me instead of my district manager (who was suppose to be on duty.)

Now that is not making a huge difference in the big world. However, it is making a huge difference in the WORLD of those employees and their families. It also directly impacted how well our business as whole survived.

That brings me to the point that whatever President we decide is in fact going to make important decisions on our behalf. There are too many people who have the right to vote that don’t. (I’m calling the kettle black on this one.) However, I’m definitely thinking long and hard about whom I want to vote for this year. I’m paying attention to the debates, and what others are saying about the candidates. I’m also praying over the matter as well because I do still strongly believe that God created our nation and I do “trust in God.”

Maybe it’s the fact that now I’m older and a bit wiser that I see the value that one person can make in the grand scheme of things.  Maybe it’s even the fact that I have three (really four) kids that are going to have to live in our world far longer than I will. Maybe it’s that I’m tired of what this world is turning into. Maybe it’s all the above, but regardless, I want “LITTLE OLE’ ME” to help shape our world even if it’s only in a small way.

What about you?
