If you have a connection within the company that you are applying to give them a call and see if they can put a good word in for you. It is tough competition right now, and you need all the help you can get to get another job. A good word about your work history may be just want you need to land an interview with the company.

Prepare for Your Interview

Whatever you do, do not go into an interview without being prepared. Although you did some research about the company when you wrote you cover letter, do some more research before your interview. You should know what goods or services the company offers and what their main mission is. This will help you know what is important to the company. You should also read through the job description one more time before you head in for your interview. This will help you talk about the right skills and to make sure you show the potential employer that you have the skills they are looking for.

Just do not give up during your job search and do not be surprised if it takes a while to get another job. Try not to get discouraged if you are turned down for several jobs in a row. Competition is very tough right now, and perhaps someone had a contact within the company that helped them get a job. Just keep going and you will find the job you have been looking for.
