5 Secrets to a Fabulous Family Vacation

A fabulous family vacation can be difficult to plan and execute because every member of the family may have different expectations. Traveling with picky kids isn’t easy either. But with the right tips and strategies in mind, you can definitely plan a family vacation that’s fun and memorable for everyone. Continue reading to learn more about the secrets to a fantastic getaway.

It All Starts with the Accommodation

With the right accommodation, you can start your vacation off right and make sure that your entire family remains comfortable throughout the duration of the trip. Imagine how happy everyone will be if you book a luxury villa rental like Villa Punto de Vista in Costa Rica. Now imagine the opposite: booking a shabby hotel that’s dirty and doesn’t offer anything fun or entertaining to do. It’s obvious that your family will have a much more enjoyable time in a place that’s close to attractions and is maintained well.

Book the Right Flight

Getting to and from your destination with ease and comfort is also important, so when you’re booking your flight, consider purchasing tickets for off-peak flights, particularly late at night, very early in the day, mid-morning, and from Tuesday to Thursday during the week. This will help ensure the airport isn’t congested, that your family is comfortable and that you can more easily avoid delays. Plus, you may even get a great deal on your fare.

If you happen to get delayed, you should also look into flight delay compensation lawyers.

Remain Flexible

Remaining flexible throughout the duration of your vacation is another way to ensure it will be fun for everyone. While you certainly want to plan a variety of activities that your entire family will enjoy, you should also include a bit of spontaneity so that, when things don’t go according to plan, you won’t let it bother you or get in the way. And you should also remain flexible in terms of letting different members of the family do different activities, rather than forcing everyone to be together doing the same thing all the time.

Involve Everyone in the Planning Process

Even though you may be tempted to book your next family vacation in a destination that you’ve been hoping to see, you really should involve every member of the family in the planning process. If your kids have a say in where you go, what you do, and where you stay, they’ll feel like they have a voice and that their opinion is appreciated, and they can help you plan a trip that they’ll enjoy as much as you will.

Do Your Research

A destination may sound wonderful on paper, but you really need to do your research to determine if a particular place is right for your entire family. For example, are there activities that the kids will enjoy, or will they be bored? Read reviews on a destination before booking it so that you really get a good idea of what it has to offer and what its limitations are.

With the tips above, you’re sure to book and enjoy a fabulous family vacation, regardless of where you’re traveling or how long your trip will be.

  1. These are great tips Crystal! Traveling off-season has been a good way for me to save money when traveling. Also using 3rd party websites like Priceline. #ProductReviewParty

    • I use to use Priceline the early 2000’s. It’s good to hear that it’s still worth using!

  2. We often travel at off- peak times and try to make sure our room is big enough for everyone to spread out a bit. It may cost a tiny bit more but in the end it’s worth it.
