Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: It’s Stupidly Good

I’m am always on the hunt for new TV/Netlix shows to watch. I get excited when new shows come on to check out. I mark the days of their release on my calendar, and then I make sure to schedule them to be recorded on my Directv recorder. One of the reasons I’m glad to be a member of the #StreamTeam from Netflix is because I get behind the scenes information and the chance to review some of their shows ahead of time. This month they are excited about their new series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Review

As a member of the #StreamTeam for Netflix, I was asked to check out Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix and give an honest input on how it relates to my life. This show is not my normal cup of tea to watch because it is filled with loads of stupid antics and attempts at comedy. Despite all of that, there is plenty of aspects of the show worth grasping and hanging onto.

Things Have Drastically Changed in Our Society

Our society over the past 20 years have drastically changed a LOT! In fact, this show has inspired plenty of blog posts out of me (that are already written and scheduled.) I amazed how Kimmy works diligently to try to fit into the world she’s in now. Yet at the same time she also sticks who she is as a person. She even bucks some of the new things that have been allowed in our world.

Please consider Pinning this image. Thank you.

Considering I’m always fighting against many of the changes happening in our world around us I could relate to Kimmy’s points of view quite a bit. I can easily see myself being like her and willing to take on the challenges of the world. I’m not one to back down from my opinions and beliefs regardless how much the world around me says I’m wrong. You have to prove me beyond a shadow of a doubt that you’re right when I’m confident that I am. (Yes, for any lawyers reading this I know exactly what the true definition of beyond a shadow of a doubt means. I excelled with flying colors in every law class I took.)

Why it’s Worth Watching

I feel that this show is worth watching because it is filled with inspirational messages that people may actually pay attention too. It is a bit over the top how they teach these lessons, but it’s almost so stupidly good you can’t turn away. I watched two episodes and said I couldn’t watch the rest of it. Yet, after I was away from it a while I went right back to finishing the rest of the series. This show grows on you.

What are your thoughts on this new series?

P.S. My husband wishes Netflix would add more to their anime collection shows. Do you agree with him?

  1. Have never heard of this show. Sounds like something my husband would watch. I am more of a crime drama kind of watcher myself. But thanks for sharing your input with us !

    • Del is a crime/sci-fi fan. I didn’t think I was going to like this show, but found that it was worth watching. Ironically, many aspects of it have stuck with me.

  2. I watched all of season one already and I was torn as to if I wanted to see season two. I’m sure I will though. It was cute and inspiring, but something was lacking for sure. I think it was almost too light…like such a serious subject was made light of…I don’t know…just my thoughts. 🙂

    • I agree with you that they did make light many serious subjects, but I think that’s the reason why the serious messages did get through to the audiences. I think that it will help some people. At least one can hope that’s the case.

  3. I watched it and liked it! I liked the way it was not serious… life itself is serious enough! It’s nice to watch a show that kind of reminds me of simpler times when tv wasn’t so politically correct and everyone wasn’t so worried about every.single.thing.all.the.time and so judgemental. 🙂

    • You know, I had a hard time placing why I ended up liking this show, but to hear your point of view, that basically describes it in a nice little nutshell. I miss life BEFORE all of the media outlets took over our world. I’m a huge fan of the simple things in life and having a good time. Everyone has a gift, life is precious, and we need to take a bull by the horns are all some mottos that I live by daily.

I’m so glad you stopped by and commented. I hope to see you again soon.

  4. We have been trying to get into this…so far it is pretty juvenile and we hope each episode will get better…

    • It is very juvenile. I took me stepping away from it to appreciate the “lessons” they are trying to teach in between all the stupidity.
