Tips and Tricks for Remodeling Small Bathrooms

I live in a very old cinderblock house. On the outside, it really doesn’t look like much at all, but through the years Del has done little odd and end things to truly transform our home. One of the projects I’m eager to see him work on next is remodeling our small bathroom. I started out looking for what I needed to do to prepare for the bathroom remodel. Most of the tips I found were pretty basic, but there were some that still gave me food for thought. I honestly thought I had a general idea in mind of what I wanted to be done with our bathroom. However, when I went to Pinterest to gain some ideas, I was quite surprised by the amount of choices that were available.

My Main Tips and Tricks for Remodeling Small Bathrooms

1.) Gather Inspiration First – Make sure that you research HOW  you want your bathroom to look. I found all kinds of tips and tricks for remodeling small bathrooms to make them more user-friendly and stylish at the same time. This article gives over 50 small bathroom ideas to make the most for the space you’re given. I would never have thought to include even 1/4 of these wonderful suggestions into my new bathroom layout.

My favorite tip was creating a SMALL space for towels beside the tub. I was also enamored by the shelf above the tub with a bunch of cubby holes for putting things. I have always liked the extra built in the stand as a part of the bath tub in all the homes my Dad had built.

2.) Measure and Compare – One of the things I learned through my inspirational stage is that there are more options available for our small spaced bathroom than I expected. I highly recommend that you take measurements of your bathroom space and compare all the different ways you can layout your bathroom. You can even use virtual bathroom remodeling simulators to help you out.

3.) Research Prices and Options – Always look for the best deal available for the items you need to make your inspiration come to life. Don’t settle on just one product choice. One of the first things Del and I are doing is remodeling the bathroom shower fixtures because that is a cheap thing. We got the chance to review the affordable Handheld 5 Function Showerhead that’s available for sale on Target’s website. This showerhead comes in three different forms (plastic, chrome, and metal) and it has five different settings. Del personally loved the misty spray setting the most. He stated he could it could give him the feeling of having our shower transformed into a spa experience.

4.) Have Fun! Remodeling can be a fun experience. There’s nothing like watching your ideas come to life from your own hands. Be sure to take before and after pictures!

What tip would you add to this list?
