Redeeming Love Book Review

I was given Redeeming Love for review in exchange for an honest blog review. That in no way shaped my opinion of this book.

Redeeming Love By Francine Rivers

I read this book when it first came out many moons ago. However, this updated 20th Anniversary edition is better. This is a romance book about “A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.” This book shows the true power of unconditional love and how much it can make difference in someone’s life.

My Review

I along with well over 1500 people on Amazon recommend this book. It gives a person hope about the power of unconditional love and God’s grace. I love the twist and turns that are involved in the book. A person gets totally wrapped up in the story of Michael and Angel. It’s truly heartwarming and inspirational.

This story touches home for me because it reminds me so much of my own personal story with Del. I am forever in amazement that his love for me is so unconditional. He has had to forgive me for so many wrong doings in our time together. I may not have been paid for my services for sex, but I could have been a prostitute because my actions were very similar. I was doing what I thought had to be done to survive. After my first husband left me, I tried to return to that mentality and just have sex to ‘survive’, but I couldn’t stay on that track.

It’s hard to explain that mentality to someone who hasn’t been there done that. To outsiders, it’s a crying shame and the worse thing a woman can do. People are so quick to condemn and judge you not realizing that there is far more to that lifestyle.

I can’t explain it as well as Francine Rivers did in her book the way that lifestyle makes a person feel. I can’t change what I’ve done in my past, and I wish everyday that I could.

I hope and pray that girls learn the value and what they are worth and wait until they get married to have sex. Those moments of pleasure outside of marriage are not worth the price you pay for it. Even if you’re not feeling like you’re paying anything right now, the fees are there!

I recommend this book for anyone whether you’re a romance fan or not. “It is a powerful retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, and all-consuming love.”

  1. I love Francine Rivers’ books. I know I read this one, but it’s been a long time. Society teaches our kids that sex is no big deal- as a mom with teens and young adults, I’ve tried to hard to teach them that it is. Great words!
