Mother’s Day Gifts That Offer Mother Encouragement

I have found that the toughest job I’ve ever signed up for was that of becoming a mother. I love my kids and they are my true delight in my life. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, but they keep me on my toes more than anything else ever has. I wonder many times if I’m being the best mother that they deserve. Like many people, I deal with people who have never raised kids trying to give their “two cents on parenting”. I have to remind myself to let their nasty comments be waters off a duck’s back because they’ve never been in the trenches of actually RAISING a kid like I am now. When they have been around my kids, they spend their time with them trying to be “their friend” and not a ROLE MODEL. I know I’m not alone in feeling like I need some encouragement along the way. Many other mothers feel the same exact way I do from time to time. That’s why I feel these Mother’s Day gifts offering the mother encouragement in your life are going to be gifts they will treasure.

I’ve read many parenting books through the years. Often times, those books confirm that I’m on the right track. The one parenting book that gave me the most encouragement and shedded some light on this whole parenting journey for me was [easyazon_link identifier=”0764212648″ locale=”US” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Mothering From Scratch[/easyazon_link]. I feel it’s a book that every mother can appreciate reading. [easyazon_image align=”center” height=”500″ identifier=”0764212648″ locale=”US” src=”https://www.tidbitsofexperience.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/51SiT3GIEiL.jpg” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″ width=”324″]

  • A handwritten note from their kids telling them how great of a mother they are.
  • A love letter from their spouse stating that they are glad to raise their kids with them.

These suggestions are not the only ones worth giving a mother who needs some encouragement. They will provide them with a constant reminder that they are doing okay. It’s a visual reminder that they have support throughout the parenting trenches and they are appreciated.

What would you add to this list of suggestions?

  1. I always make my mom a proper meal with her favorite dishes on mother’s day. And I always remind myself of her every day.

    • Flowers are nice, but I’m not creative like you to turn them into creative things like your picture you showed us on the Art Academy post. Del gets me fake roses all the time that way I can keep them for life.

  3. Crystal, thanks for sharing this list. Great ideas for gifts!!! I’m starting to take a look at ideas for this occasion.

  4. Lately I have been overwhelmed and forgetful, nearly missed my mom’s birthday. This mother’s day I am going to do something special. The later years are tough for some and my parents are dealing with alot of stress. I need to be a more humble daughter and a more focussed caring giver.

    • It’s not easy when you have your own life to live and have parents that need your attention too. I’m sure she’ll appreciate whatever you do.

  5. The best gift I’ve ever received was from my husband on my second Mother’s Day. I was stressed trying to balance motherhood and an intense job. So, he created a website/blog called “Kyle Loves Mommy” to reinforce how much I was loved. On it he posted photos and reasons why Kyle (my son) loves me ranging from silly to serious… I gave him good baths and sang silly songs to being a working mom inspiration, etc. It was not only heartfelt but it came at a meaningful time.

    • You’re right mothers do deserve a lot. I know my mom deserved far more than I gave her when she was alive.

  8. I just put together a list as well! My mom is all the way across the country, so when I send her anything, it’s usually flowers, a plant, or yummy consumables. Have you read books by Sally Clarkson? Mission of Motherhood or any of her books are so full of grace and encouragement, I would highly recommend them!
