Homemade Bubble Solution

With the weather getting better and better as the summer goes on, you’ll want to spend as much time as you can outside before the nights get longer again. One of my favourite things to do with kids is blow bubbles in the garden, and I remember loving whenever my parents put together bubble solution for me to play with when I was a kid. I’m going to give you our favourite bubble solution recipe, and I hope you and your kids get to enjoy it this summer.

Bubble solution is super easy to make, you only really need a few ingredients. Take 6 cups of water and pour it into a glass jar, and mix in 1 cup of washing up liquid into the jar. I like using Dawn dish liquid in my bubble solutions, but most dish soaps work just fine. Stir in the soap slowly so you don’t make any bubbles, and just let that sit for a little bit. Add in about ¼ cup of corn syrup to the liquid (or ½ cup if you are using some sort of extra strength or ultra washing up liquid), and stir it through. Let the bubble solution sit overnight for best results, but you can use it immediately if you like.

To blow bubbles, use wands that you’ve kept from store-bought solutions, or make your own! You can use straws, pipe cleaners, or bread twist ties… be creative! I like using pipe cleaners and making fun shapes, like squares or triangles, and then folding another pipe cleaner through the shape to use it as a handle.
