Being the Domestic Engineer

I have been finding that since Zeva has been born there just aren’t enough hours in a day. I don’t see how single mothers who have more than one child do it all!!! I was exhausted doing it all with one child, and I ended up hiring someone to come clean my house once a week just so I could have time with my daughter on my days off.
Juggling homeschooling Jimmy and trying to help Little Del get a head start on somethings, taking care of the housework, cooking, shopping, and doing my own school work and taking care of Zeva has become a challenge for sure. I’m starting to see why people in the past got up at the crack of dawn and went until way past dark. I’ve been up this morning since the crack of dawn, and I have got a lot accomplished already. However, in exactly 8 minutes my men are going to be getting up and out of bed, and that is the end of my peaceful time of getting my things done without feeling like I’m being pulled in four different directions at the same time. 🙂 Would I change any of this??? HANG NO!! I’m just amazed at how much a person has to get done in a day. Yet, in the olden days it was even worse for a woman.
Some how though, I find time for myself in the mix of all the everyday tasks. Granted, something gets put aside for a period of time or I’m still multitasking to get it all in there. However, we all need time everyday to unwind and get our energy back. One of my friends recentally told me that she stays up late at night because it’s peaceful and she gets her time to think. I’m starting to see why she does it. (She already has three kids.) (I’m sorry, I can’t get over how much one child makes such a huge difference in our lives.)
My husband has been juggling working long days and still doing school work. Plus he’s been helping me out with the housework and the kids. So, I’ve been utterly blessed that I’m NOT having to do all of this alone. Granted he gets to have his reward when he wants it and as much as he wants it, but I get to ENJOY it because he keeps me from being overly tired.
Well, I have to get back to work. By the way, Amazon.com gives away great free ebooks every week they add new books. I’ve found some pretty great reads as a result. (I have the app on my phone and get to read them while I wait at doctor’s offices or on the go..)

I'm Crystal. I'm married to Dale, and mother to Johnny. Some might say that my life is perfect because I get to do all the cliché wife things like cooking, cleaning, and decorating - but there's more! I also have many hobbies including needlework (crochet), sewing, and reading. My son's education is important, so we homeschool him together.
