The Sights of Charleston to Explore when on Vacation

When it comes to Charleston, there are plenty of sights and attractions to explore. From the historical downtown district to the beaches and everything in between, Charleston is a city with something for everyone. Here are just a few of the things to do Charleston, SC has to offer.

Downtown Charleston

The downtown area of Charleston is a historical district full of 18th and 19th-century architecture. There are plenty of sights to see and things to do in this area, including visiting the Charleston Museum, taking a horse-drawn carriage ride, or simply strolling down the cobblestone streets.

A museum experience is ideal for those interested in history. It is an education that provides some great exhibits to enjoy. It is good to find out more about where you are staying too. Then it can become something to talk about when you return home. It is more of a cultural experience getting involved in the history of a location.

Sometimes you will want your children to learn from first-hand experiences besides what is taught in schools and this is a great way to achieve it. You can take your kids away from the screens of computers and phones and instead focus their attention on the alternative fun adventure of exploration.

The Beaches

Charleston is home to some of the best beaches in the country. Whether you want to relax on the sand, take a swim in the ocean, or try your hand at surfing, Charleston’s beaches have something for everyone. Folly Beach and Sullivan’s Island are two of the most popular beaches in Charleston.

It does not matter where we are in the world, it tends to be the beaches that everyone craves. It is the view as much as the choice of activity or relaxation. There tends to be a lot to do for everyone on the sand or within the waves, and we can enjoy the fresh air too, instead of otherwise having to breathe in pollution where there is traffic.

The alternative, of course, is to have a mountain range to look at and explore, but not everyone is a fan of an extreme sport like rock climbing when they wish to become that bit more adventurous.

The Charleston Waterfront Park

The Charleston Waterfront Park is a must-see for any visitor to Charleston. This park offers stunning views of the Charleston harbor, as well as a variety of activities and amenities, such as a playground, public art, and a fishing pier.

There is water everywhere and many will appreciate being around a harbor just as much as being able to look at or have fun in the ocean. Boating is a nice relaxing hobby once you have the sails in position. But then, there is the motorboat or more luxurious yacht option. It does not have to be hard work.

The Charleston Tea Plantation

For something a little different, be sure to check out the Charleston Tea Plantation. This working tea plantation is the only one in America and offers tours, tastings, and a chance to learn about the history and production of tea.

If you are something of a tea drinker, you will love this place. Anyone into coffee may well find themselves converted once we learn about the history and taste the magnificent tea.

The Charleston sights are a big draw for tourists, and it’s easy to see why. From the beautiful architecture to the history and culture on display, there’s something for a mixed group of tourists to enjoy about this charming Southern city.
