Give Us Fair Internet Treatment

I just spent over an hour talking to our AT&T representative because the Internet service that we got that was supposed to be UNLIMITED usage is now not working worth a dime because they are claiming that we are using it like a business. We go through a lot of Internet usage in a given month between my blog, the kids in online public schools, and also with Del’s video gaming!! We literally wouldn’t be able to survive if I didn’t have Internet connection to earn money from home!

Our so called unlimited Internet plan is now capping us off at 50 GBs a month. Now when we use more than what they consider a decent amount in one day, they slow us down to next to no usage available at all! I’ve tried to call customer service about it tonight like I normally do, and I didn’t get an answer anymore. It’s almost like they do not want us as a customer anymore?

They claim that they can offer us T1 service, which is an Internet plan for businesses, but we have to pay almost $500.00 to get it installed, and then almost $600 a month to have the service. Now, what gets me, is the fact that I can supposedly order DSL service via AT&T on their website UNTIL I actually go to checkout for only $60.00 a month WITH a HOME phone with unlimited calling both locally and long distance. Then when I go to checkout…oops..I’m sorry the DSL Internet is NOT available in your area.

We LITERALLY have TWO Internet services that we pay a pretty penny for each month. One lied to us and stated it was unlimited and it was for the first six months (while we were under contract with them.) It ran perfectly, he could do his gaming, I could do my blog work, and the kids could do their school work ALL at the same time! Now, I’m lucky if I get one good solid hour of usage from it a day.

Del is getting irate over this whole fact that he can’t get unlimited Internet usage here. He feels like he’s being punished because of where he lives. I agree that we shouldn’t have to go through this! We should have unlimited Internet available in our area too at a reasonable cost.

What makes it bad, is we have complained so much about this issue that the local high speed Internet Company that we ALSO have has placed signs ALL over our neighborhood and the surrounding areas. However, the problem is its NOT UNLIMITED usage. We are capped to 25 GBs a month! That doesn’t last long in our house at all.

I have so many things I long to do online and actually should be doing online, but I can’t because of the fact that I have to stretch out my usage now throughout the month. I MISS being able to do whatever I want online when I want to do it! When I lived in Ohio I had unlimited high speed Internet and took it for granted! The ironic thing is I never knew all of this stuff existed online that could earn us money. I just PLAYED online.

I would like to know what I have to do in order to get UNLIMITED HIGH SPEED INTERNET in our area!

How do I create a petition? What actions should I take to make this unfair situation better?

I’m venting, but I’m also begging for help concerning this matter!

  1. I wish I could give you an answer. I use to have ATT and switched to Comcast because my son does a lot of gaming. Unlimited internet. Guess what? In January they stopped offering unlimited internet. We are all getting screwed! I heard it has something to do with some kind of new law that was passed that allows them to do this now. I’ll have to do research to find out what exactly the law was. Anyway, I don’t understand how they can just change us from unlimited to limited. Ridiculous!!!! Luckily, for us we are not capped until 300gb. I didn’t know ATT was doing this now too. Good luck with finding a solution.

    • I wish we had the option to get either one of these Internet providers in our home. Both of them offer way better plans than what I have right now. (By the way, I am sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to commenting! You know I value my comments a lot!! (It’s been PASS testing here, and it’s throwing my schedule completely off track.)
