Blog Dare…The Entire Season…

I’ve been trying to do this Blog Dare everyday. I hope that you are enjoying these posts.

Today’s topic involves The Entire Season…

I wrote a while ago about the rough Season of Marriage that Del and I were enduring with him working many long hours and days with his prior job. Well, that season is finally behind us. I am pleased to announce that he FINALLY quit. He was getting overly stressed out and it became a choice between his job and his life. Of course, any smart person is going to choose their life. So, he and my father-in-law are going back into business together. Plus Del will be helping me with some other tasks that we will start offering in 2014. It was a leap of faith, but definitely one worth taking. I would much rather have Del any day of the week than all the money or materialistic items in the world.

We also have a season of homeschooling. I’m glad to know that we are getting to the holiday season. For some reason the kids seem to do a lot better right before any big break. I love it when they are eager to get through their school work. I am getting a new printer within the next week and hope to be doing a lot of neat activities with them, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy seeing some of the things I have planned out.

Christmas is 16 days away and I have absolutely NO clue what I want to give my kids. There really isn’t anything big that they need. We already own all the game systems on the market. They each have their own Kindle Fire. (If I get my Kindle Fire HDX that is on my list, then Zeva gets mine.) We have all the most recent video games that are on the market. We get all the new release movies one way or another. They have more clothes than they’ll ever wear. Gosh knows they have loads of jackets. They just got brand new shoes each. They have more toys than they know what to do with. We’ve been doing a lot of window shopping, and I still don’t have a solid answer. Do you have suggestions??

Not to mention, they have been so terribly miss behaved that I desperately want to give them coal. Of course, I say that almost every year. (Again, they get really excited and whiz through their school work and have loads of extra time on their hands.) They literally pitch in on getting the house in order and cleaned willingly and want to do it so that we have more time to roam the roads. I also feel that this year has been worse because Del hasn’t been home to help reign them in. There is something to say about having a man around to help keep kids in line.

I feel like an entire season is finally behind us. I’m unsure what the weather is going to be like in the coming seasons, but I feel comfortable that it will weather we can handle. I have faith.

What season of life are you in right now?

I'm Crystal. I'm married to Dale, and mother to Johnny. Some might say that my life is perfect because I get to do all the cliché wife things like cooking, cleaning, and decorating - but there's more! I also have many hobbies including needlework (crochet), sewing, and reading. My son's education is important, so we homeschool him together.

  1. Ummmm……I am part of the sandwich generation. Parents are really starting to age, have one child in college and another in middle school.

No suggestions on what to get your children. 🙁

    • My aunt had kids that far apart too. I personally tried to have my kids closer together, but God had a different plan in mind. I’m personally glad he did. 😉

I’m still playing the debating game over their presents.

  2. I have been thinking a lot about the seasons of my life lately — we have had a rough few months, and I am hoping that things turn around a bit for us in the new year. I am, however, a firm believer that the rough times make the good times all that much better 🙂 As for gifts — this has been one of the hardest holiday shopping seasons for me for a variety of reasons, but I feel like there aren’t any great toys out this year. Lots of repeats from last year, and nothing that really stands out. I made a number of gifts this year, which I hope will be a nice way to mix it up a bit under the tree 🙂 lots of craft projects, books, paper to write and draw on … things to get them being creative!

    • That is actually a great idea. My kids love to do crafty projects. They love any homemade products that their Meemaw makes them. I’m just not overly crafty.

  3. Oh, I’m like you. I have no idea what to get the kids. I just don’t know. I don’t have much time to figure it out at this point, too. GAH!!!
How exciting that Del is going back into business with his dad. I hope he loves it and has more time at home! That’s a great Christmas gift for all of you! –Lisa
