Better Together : Because You’re Not Meant to Mom Alone Review

Raising kids is quite an adventure. In fact, it’s such an adventure that’s often time easier to manage when women are surrounded by not only family but friends too. Often times it’s hard to make friends when you’re busy raising kids. Plus, you may have your friendships from your childhood days, but as I’m sure you’re aware the more your life changes the more those relationships tend to fizzle out. That’s why I’m glad I got the chance to review [easyazon_link identifier=”080241379X” locale=”US” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Better Together: Because We’re Not Meant to Mom Alone[/easyazon_link].

About Better Together

[easyazon_link identifier=”080241379X” locale=”US” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Better Together[/easyazon_link] explores the notion that women are not designed to mother alone. We are designed to mother in relationship with other women who understand what a mom’s life is like. We’re also designed to mother in relationship with the God who created us. This book encourages every mother to find her mothering community, a place where she can both give and receive support in the many forms moms need. Beyond encouraging moms to be in community, [easyazon_link identifier=”080241379X” locale=”US” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Better Together[/easyazon_link]teaches how to build a tribe and what to do together once you have one, such as learn together, help together, care together, share together, pray together, forgive together, and encourage together.

 My Review

I savored reading this book. I had let myself become sort of a recluse in many ways. Yes, I’ve made many online friends over the years, but I haven’t put myself in positions where I could easily make girlfriends. Since reading this book, I have completely changed that.

I have put more effort into getting to know the women I’ve been meeting in passing. I’ve even signed up to take a cooking class. Luckily, my new friend Aime has been joining me for it too. We are also finding other ways to do things together also.

I have been learning an LOT from her since I’ve met her. I feel so blessed to have her friendship. I have a new appreciation for everything that Jill and Anne have been stressing in their book. The authors go through the steps of building friendships. It’s amazing how I thought I knew how to do it until I read this book. This book gave me insight that I wasn’t aware of.

Now I have blooming friendships again. I can’t stress how much it has helped to make mothering my kids better. Sometimes it takes have input from other moms to help you see things you can’t see while raising kids. Our husbands can’t see things the way we do because they aren’t wired that way.

I'm Crystal. I'm married to Dale, and mother to Johnny. Some might say that my life is perfect because I get to do all the cliché wife things like cooking, cleaning, and decorating - but there's more! I also have many hobbies including needlework (crochet), sewing, and reading. My son's education is important, so we homeschool him together.
