New and Returning Series on Netflix #StreamTeam

Netflix has come out with many shows this month and in the coming months. I’ve actually gotten the chance to indulge in a few shows lately (of course, when you’re too sick to work that’s pretty easy to do. Hence, why there are more movie reviews being posted this week than anything else.) I’m happy with the results of new series and old series returning.

Between

This series reminds me a lot of Under the Dome on TV. The big difference with this one though is that people are dying left and right for an unexplained reason. I watched the first episode of it Saturday night. It was entertaining. I will wait a few weeks for the rest of the shows to be added before I go back to it. I’ve gotten spoiled with being able to watch an entire series at one time on Netflix. They are releasing a new show for Between every Thursday at 8:30PM PT.

Check out the preview here.

Grace and Frankie

Grace and Frankie is NOT what I expected in any way. I was expecting it to be a series similar to the movie Thelma and Louise. (Note: I didn’t watch preview or read about it!) It’s a movie about how these two couples deal with the fact that these wives’ husbands were secretly having a love affair for over twenty years of their forty-year marriage. Even though I do feel this show is quite unrealistic, I did enjoy watching it from start to finish.

Grace reminded me of my Mom in many ways. Both woman are very vain in their appearances and are determined to hold their head high despite what they go through in life. The one huge difference is my mom would have had to get sweet revenge for her husband cheating on her for so many years especially with another man. I honestly think the character of Grace kept me watching this series, and will continue to keep my interest. I am eager to see series two of it.

Sense8

Sense8 looks like a new sci-fi series worth watching. I am eager to check it out on Friday, June 5th. This one will release all 12 episodes at once. I can tell now, I’m going to be on a Netflix binge watching that day. UPDATE: I checked this out and was sorely disappointed in it! It actually gave me the negative chills and it was long and drawn out and boring.

Watch the preview and tell me in the comments if you’re interested too.

Returning Series

Orange is the New Black – This series returns on Netflix Friday, June 12. You can catch up on Season 1 & 2 by going to http://www.netflix.com/OITNB.

  3. I don’t have netflix so I won’t catch any of these. I do not like Under the Dome so I don’t think I would like the one that is like that, but I would have liked to check out Grace and Frankie as I saw them interviewed when they were promoting it and I like them as actresses.

    • I tried to get into House of Cards, but I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it. I did give it an entire season though. Yet, I love West Wing. To me they are very similar so I figured I would enjoy it.

  11. We just cut the cord again (ditched cable) so we’re constantly watching Netflix. I just got into their original series. Grace and Frankie has to be one of my faves so far. I’m so glad it’s coming back!

As far as the others you mention, they look like the kind of series I’d have to be in the mood for. It’s only been a few weeks without cable, so I’m sure I’ll make my way towards them.

Stopping by from the SITS Saturday Sharefest!

  12. Thank you for putting this together! My husband and I enjoy watching Netflix as our “Date Night” but when we finally have the opportunity to do so, we end up wasting so much time trying to find something interesting to watch. We’re so out of the loop in regards to anything non-educational or for little ones, this post really helped catch me up to speed. “Between” looks like a great option for us and since it’s weekly, we’ll be less inclined to get sucked to binge watching! 😉 Thanks again, most of these titles I would have no clue about were it not for this post!
