Netflix Series Find Worth Sharing

Netflix has become a good friend of mine since we got our new Internet service. Our weather may have improved dramatically, but our yard has not caught up to it. Our yard is still a living breathing muddy pond filled with HIGH and I mean HIGH grass. So, I can’t kick the kids outside. As much as WE ALL long to do it. Since I don’t have a vehicle, I can’t go somewhere were there is less of a mess for us to enjoy. (I literally feel like a trapped person locked up with three kids that are trying their darn-est to be on their best behavior.

Anyways, I saw a commercial on TV advertising this new exclusive Netflix series called Orange is the New Black. I honestly thought I wasn’t going to like it because it’s about women in jail and their lives. However, I got sucked into this dramatic series. This is not the type of show you want to watch with your kids around. I’ve literally been watching it on my computer with my screen safely away from their viewing eyes. I’ve also been using headphones (low enough that I can still hear what my kids are up.)

You know, I’ve come close to ending up in jail a few times in my life. Amazingly enough, God has kept me out of jail. However, I still have a strong pull to go to prisons and see if I can make a difference in these women’s lives. I can’t explain it, but it’s always been there. We all make our fair share of mistakes, and like one of the characters stated, “I was just not caught.” I can’t say my crimes have been worth putting me behind bars or even something I have ever had to worry about that happening to me. (My major crimes were speeding while driving, and having sex with to many men.) If my step-father had hit my mother one more time, I definitely would have blown his brains out.

I think I am in fascination over this series because I know it was close to being my life. I still fear what I’d do if I ever saw my ex-stepfather again. I may feel like I’ve forgiven him in my heart, but that doesn’t mean I’m 100% confident of that fact if I were to see him again.

Have you watched this series?
