One of the things I love about the Wii product is the amount of games that are focused on fitness. I have played the original Wii and got in excellent shape as a result of many of the games that were on that game system. However, the original Wii ended up at my in-laws house, and I lost the pleasure of being able to enjoy those games some time ago.
However, I also knew the Wii U was coming since last January, and it has been on our list for some time. I knew I would get some of the fitness games for it when it came out. This game has been on my Christmas list as well, and I am pretty confident my husband got it for me. (Yes, it’s primarily for me, but the kids will enjoy doing like they did before and be my little coaches.) I’m terribly out of shape again if my riding of my bike is any indication; even though, I think I’m doing pretty good with that all things considered.
I’m honestly considering getting a pedometer for walking and for all of my other exercise activities that are lined up for the upcoming weeks and months to come. It will be nice to be able to keep track of what the amount of steps that I take in a day. I know that it will also help to feel challenged to walk more steps with each passing day. I know when I was active with www.sparkpeople.com there was always fitness challenges in each of the groups I was a part of. One of the challenges was to walk so many steps in a day, and I always thought that was a lot of steps to walk in a day. However, people walk a lot more than they realize.
Plus if you park far away from where you headed when you go do your errands that definitely adds some extra steps. It takes on average between 2,000-2,500 steps to cover a mile. That’s really not a lot of steps when you think about it in those terms. I think it would be neat to see how many miles you cover in a day without exercise included in your daily activity.
My fitness goals are definitely going to start out small for sure, but I plan on building up to much more. I have my bike that I’ve been wanting for ages, the Wii U with this game, and my wonderful walking partner/best friend. Not to mention, Zeva is starting to walk around quite well now. So, I’ll have to keep up with three kids now as well.
