Captive: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero Book Review & Giveaway

I have been on this kick of watching prison shows. I am amazed how they portray these characters lives both in and out of prison. When FlyBy Promotions offered me the chance to review Captive: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero book, I was intrigued.

About The Book

Captive: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero is a book about how Ashley Smith, the Atlanta woman, was held hostage in her own apartment by a guy who broke out of prison. Nichols held her in her apartment for seven grueling hours. During that time-frame, Ashley prayed with gusto to God to help her get to see her daughter again.

This is a captivating story that will pull you in from start to finish. You’ll feel like you’re in Ashley’s apartment learning her life’s story right alongside Nichols. Your heart and soul will connect with her in a way you can’t explain. You can almost feel God working with every word you’re reading.

I gave this book to a friend of mine to read because I was eager to share it with someone else right away. She dug into it right away. She talked about how good the book was too. You can see it’s moving her just as much as it did me.

#FollowYourPurpose Mission

We all have a purpose in our lives. Throughout the course of this book, they mention The Purpose Driven Life : What on Earth Am I Here For? I read the original version of this book when I was in my teens and it truly does give you lots of food for thought.

We all have a purpose in our lives. God has a plan for everything in our lives. In February 2006, I was in a severe car accident that transformed my life completely. I crushed my right ankle into pieces to the point that I have screws holding it together and my middle left finger is also held together by screws too. The doctor informed me that I would never walk again. With loads of prayer and determination, I proved him wrong!

I haven’t reached the point of being able to run yet again, but it is certainly something that I still aspire to do. You don’t appreciate being able to climb, run, or stand on foot, or the ease of going up and down stairs until you’re physically challenged every time you do those things.

That accident made appreciate my life! God opened my eyes in many areas of my life. It wasn’t long after that accident that I made many life altering decisions. Some of those decisions were forced on me, but they were decisions that were made with the best of intentions.

I started writing on the web and sharing my personal story with others. I found out how many other people could relate to my story and life experiences. God has since pushed me to start sharing our life experiences in hopes of helping others enhance their own experiences. I believe in many ways; we have made an impact on other’s lives. I hope it’s been a positive experience. Yet, every time I think about quitting this blogging journey, something happens to make it to where that isn’t an option. I believe with every ounce of my being that God is 110% behind this blog and its success.

I believe my purpose is to write and inspire others. #FollowYourPurpose What is your purpose?
