The War Room: Prayer is a Powerful Weapon Movie Review

I’m always pleased when I’m given the chance to review movies early. Delbert and I got to have a little date to go see [easyazon_link identifier=”1496407288″ locale=”US” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]The War Room[/easyazon_link] movie a couple weeks ago. I’m glad we were given the chance to go watch it. It is one of those movies that will move you while you’re watching it and beyond. The Kendrick Brothers created Courageous and FireProof, which are two movies I thoroughly loved watching and this movie. Even Delbert at his young age was able to appreciate this movie. The War Room is a movie that shows the true power of living a prayerful life.

Tony and Elizabeth Jordan have it all—great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their dream house. But appearances can be deceiving. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan’s world is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks in his professional success and flirts with temptation, Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness. But their lives take an unexpected turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” and a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light. Tony must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove Miss Clara’s wisdom that victories don’t come by accident.

Lukewarm or Tongue Burning Hot

I’d love to say that my faith has been tongue burning hot, but I’ve let my faith in God turn to lukewarm far too many times. This movie has a way of making a person who is lukewarm want to burn for Christ again. They leave the theater ready to sing God’s praises and pray to the heavens. This movie sparked a strong interest in God with my middle child, who has been on the fence with his belief.

I loved this scene from the movie.

She made a valid point with an easy to remember technique. I haven’t looked at a cup of coffee or my faith the same since seeing this little stunt Miss Clara played on Elizabeth.

My Final Thoughts

Needless to say, I would recommend this movie! It’s good for the young and the old alike. If you’re not a believer, it’s a strong enough movie to make you think twice about your decision to believe or not. If you are like me and got into that lukewarm stage, it’s enough to make you feel like you have God lightning a fire to your tail end letting you know that he’s is real and waiting on you to become an active family member again.

    • This movie is a movie well worth watching. I can’t wait until it hits DVD because I know I’ll watch it again with the rest of my family.

  1. You know this is something that I’ve thought about a lot lately and I get so wrapped up in why tragedies happen, like what has happened in Nepal, or what ISIS is doing or just how horrible people can be to each other, killings, murder of innocent lives and I wonder sometimes what kind of God would let an innocent child be tortured. Now please hear me out. I am a Christian, but I do ask questions like this and no one knows the answers to these questions and at times I doubt, I’m being perfectly honest here and sharing my feelings with you as a Christian. I wish someone could answer the hard questions like this, but no one has ever been able to…and for me often times its not enough. Only when I attempt to push those things to the side and not question humanity can I get back into my faith. I know, not very Christian like, but its my struggle. I struggle to see a loving God sometimes, even though in my own life I know a loving God, but in others like babies left to die….I can’t grasp that from a Christian standpoint.

    • Although, I wish I could explain this in a way in which it would make sense to you, I can’t honestly do it. However, what I can tell you is that I know for a fact that God uses everything bad that has happened to us throughout the course of our lives for a greater good and purpose in the world. I hang onto the knowledge and the PROOF I’ve seen within my own life to help me keep my faith. Like I mentioned in this post, there are times when I fall short and become a lukewarm believer far more than I should, but I’d say my faith is stronger with each time I make a connection with him again.

  2. I am such a huge fan of their movies. Thank you for writing this review or else I am not sure when I would have learned they have a new movie out. I will definitely rent this one soon.

    • This movie hits the theaters on August 28th, and I highly recommend you go see it. It is well worth your time and money to invest in it.

    • I honestly didn’t expect my seven-year-old to enjoy this movie when I took him. He surprised me and enjoyed it as much as I did it not more. He even started requesting we pray at the dinner table even with nonbelievers at the table with us. Since his faith was on the fence, I’m so pleased to see this change in him.

  3. I went to see this movie today by myself. I was sitting in the 11:35 showing waiting for the movie to start. Of course, I’m looking on my phone at Instagram, & I see Priscilla Shirer has a post. I commented that I was in the theater about to watch War Room. I turned off my phone, and proceeded to cry through all the previews. So many great looking faith based movies coming out!!! The movie blew me away. I laughed & cried! It’s beautifully made, Priscilla is a top-notch actress, and the story….beautiful. When the movie was over, I turned my phone back on & to my surprise I had a message from Priscilla Shirer saying she hoped I enjoyed the movie!!! How great was that!!! If you have any doubts about going to this movie, GO!!!! You will not be disappointed!
